Introduction
Alhamdu SACCO is a member-owned financial cooperative founded in Habaswein, Wajir County, established to transform livelihoods across Kenya's Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASALs). The SACCO was created on the conviction that lasting change in ASAL communities requires more than access to credit: it requires an integrated pathway that links savings and financial inclusion to enterprise development, skills building, value addition and reliable market access.
Through three interlinked value chains – Textile & Apparel (Tie & Dye), Agribusiness, and Crafts – Alhamdu SACCO enables women, youth and households to convert indigenous skill, cultural heritage and local resources into dignified, sustainable income. This work is anchored by a structured training programme and reinforced through active partnership with the Micro and Small Enterprises Authority (MSEA) under the Kenya Jobs and Economic Transformation (KJET) Program, positioning the SACCO as a credible, investable delivery partner within Kenya's enterprise development and financial inclusion ecosystem.
